What it is

Wanderist is an app that helps people find things to do near them. WanderistBot reads publicly published event calendars so those events can be listed for people looking for something to do in your area. It identifies itself on every request:

WanderistBot/1.0 (+https://wanderist.io/bot; local event calendar syndication)

What it does and does not do

• It looks for a calendar feed — an .ics file, an events RSS feed, or structured event data your calendar software already publishes.
• It reads a small number of pages per site, infrequently. It is not a search engine and does not index your whole site.
• It does not submit forms, follow links behind a login, or collect personal data.
• It reads robots.txt before fetching and honours what it finds there.

To stop it

Add this to robots.txt at the root of your site. We check on every visit and will stop:

User-agent: WanderistBot
Disallow: /

To allow the calendar but nothing else, allow only that path:

User-agent: WanderistBot
Allow: /events/
Disallow: /

If you would rather not edit robots.txt, email us and we will add the block on our side.

Listing your events

Listings are free and there is nothing to sign up for — if your calendar is public and readable, it can be included. If you host events and would like them found, or you would like a listing corrected or removed, get in touch and a person will answer.
