Deleting your account
In the app
Open your profile, then Delete account (it's also under Menu → Account & security). You'll confirm it's you — your password, or your Google or Apple sign-in — and then it happens straight away. There's no waiting period and no "are you sure you want to just deactivate instead". Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
If you can't get into your account
Email support@wanderist.io from the address you signed up with. We'll need to confirm it's your account before deleting it, which is the same protection that stops someone else deleting yours.
What is deleted
- Your profile — name, photo, bio, interests and badges.
- Your private information: email address, date of birth, and the token used to send you notifications.
- Your block list.
- Outings you created, and the guest lists attached to them.
- Your attendance records on other people's Outings.
- Your venue claims, and any documents you sent to prove them. A venue you ran goes back to unclaimed, and the description and photo you added to it are removed.
- Your sign-in credentials. You will not be able to log in again.
What is kept, and why
Reports you filed about other people. These are moderation records rather than your own data to withdraw. If closing an account erased the reports made from it, anyone could delete the evidence of their own behaviour by deleting their account, and the report system would be worth nothing.
Records required for money and tax. If you bought a ticket or were paid as a host, the transaction records are retained as long as the law requires. Payment processing is handled by Stripe under their own retention rules.
Content that belongs to a shared conversation. Messages you sent in a group chat, photos you added to someone else's Outing album, and ratings you left remain visible to the people they were shared with. They are no longer linked to a profile anyone can open.
Facts about a venue you ran. Corrections you made to its website or phone number, and an events calendar you connected, stay with the venue: they are information about the business rather than about you. So does our record of the decisions on your claim and the changes made to the venue's listing.
Ask us anything else
If you want a specific record removed, or want to know what we hold about you, email support@wanderist.io and say so plainly. See the privacy policy for the fuller picture.
