Reach groups deciding where to go

People on Wanderist are actively deciding where to go this week, with other people, and they've told us what they're interested in. The first way to be part of that costs nothing and you may already be in it. After that: run a campaign, or get a host to bring their group to you.

Free listings

You are probably already listed, and it is free

Two of the three things in a member's feed are about venues rather than about us, and neither is a paid placement. Nobody buys their way into either one.

Atlas
Your venue, as somewhere to go. It surfaces to members nearby whose interests fit, as a place to bring a group. You didn't sign up and you aren't charged.
Marquee
Your events, with your name on them. If your site publishes a calendar, we list what's coming up, credited to you with a link back to your page — a link and a short summary, never your description.

Members can mark a listing Interested, and any member can host it, which turns your event into an organised group with a guest list, arriving together. That includes you: host your own listing and you're a host like any other.

There's nothing to sign up for. We read what a site already publishes when it wants to be syndicated — an iCal feed, event structured data, or a calendar platform we know — and we honour robots.txt. Or email your calendar's address to support@wanderist.io.

Claim your venue

Run the place? Keep its listing right.

Any member can claim a venue. Prove it's yours one of two ways, and from then on you correct what people see.

A check on your website

We give you a code. Put it on your home page as a meta tag, or on your domain as a DNS record, and tap Check now. It only counts on the website already on your listing, and not on a social, review, ticketing or link-in-bio page.

Or a person checks

No website, or can't edit it? Upload a business licence, a utility bill or a lease naming the business at that address. Someone on our team decides, and the document is deleted 30 days after. A claim on a venue someone already owns always goes to a person.

What a claim unlocks

  • Website and phone

Correct them, and the correction holds when our directory refreshes.

  • A photo

Checked before it's shown. It replaces the category tab on your card and on your event listings.

  • A description

Up to 280 characters, no links, checked before it appears.

  • Your events calendar

Paste your events page and we work out the feed. Its listings are still screened — claiming doesn't skip that.

A verified venue's card says so: Explore · Verified. Claiming is in the iPhone and Android apps, under Profile, then Your venues. The apps are in testing now, and the App Preview adds claiming later. Until then, email support@wanderist.io to fix a wrong website or phone number.

Campaigns

Pay for reach, labelled as paid.

Self-serve, from inside the app. No sales call, no minimum spend to get started.
Targeting
Interest tags and a radius around your venue. Your campaign is shown to people who match both — the same tags members choose for themselves.
Pricing
Per view or per click, with a budget you set: daily and total caps, a monthly ceiling, and frequency caps so the same person isn't shown it repeatedly.
Reporting
Impressions, clicks and spend per campaign, an itemised ledger, and card management through Stripe's own billing portal.

Every campaign is labelled. Paid placements carry a Sponsored or Promoted marker wherever they appear. We are not interested in advertising that works by being mistaken for something else.

Creative is checked automatically before it runs — images and copy both — and anything flagged goes to a human before it can be shown.

The Advertise screen in the app: “Promote your venue or event to people nearby. Set up
billing, then create campaigns you fund and control.” An Advertiser terms switch, off.
A Billing card — “Save a card to fund your advertising. Secure checkout by Stripe — we
never see your card details.” — with a Set up billing button. A Start advertising
button, greyed out, and a note that a card funds a prepaid advertising balance,
campaigns spend it at the CPM or CPC you set, and every campaign is reviewed
                automatically before it goes live.

Ask a host

Ask a host to run an event with you

The other side of the marketplace: instead of buying attention, you invite someone who already has an audience to bring it to your venue.

  • Two ways to ask

Name a host you already know, or describe what you want and get a ranked shortlist of hosts near you — ordered by their host score, not by who paid.

  • Sweeten it if you want to

Optionally offer seed funding to cover costs, and a turnout bonus that pays out if a minimum number of people actually show. Both are held until the conditions are met.

  • Turnout means check-ins

A bonus is released against real QR check-ins at the event, not against sign-ups or promises. If the turnout doesn't happen, the money comes back to you.

  • What we charge

A finder's fee on the introduction. Seed funding and turnout bonuses pass through to the host in full — we don't take a cut of the money you're using to make the event happen.

What we won't do

  • Sell you personal data. Targeting happens inside the system; you receive counts and performance, never a list of people.
  • Run an unlabelled ad. If you paid for the placement, it says so.
  • Promise attendance. Boosts, campaigns and notifications buy reach, and reach is what we report on.

Rates, caps and the finder's fee are set server-side and can change; the app shows the price that applies before you commit to anything. Questions: support.
